I love radio. I can’t help it. It is a great way to gift others a window into your universe… or spooniverse in my case. I’ve been dabbling in and out of volunteer radio for a while, and for me it’s been an invigorating experience. After being off air for a few months, I’m happy to announce that the radio project I’ve been working on, Busker Broadcast is back on air. You can tune in on Sundays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on 103.3 Asheville FM for the show, or online at ashevillefm.org.
JULY 23rd 2017 11am to 1pm Asheville FM
Our first guest on our new station is going to be the awesome Steel City Jug Slammers from Birmingham Alabama. This band is a great listen! Classic jug band goodness, great song composition and choice, and yes!… there will be video so make sure to watch our Busker Broadcast Facebook feed and catch a glimpse. The visual is awesome, so make sure you watch their calendar and catch them live. They show up in Asheville from time to time, and you don’t want to miss it.
Busker Broadcast is a show that focuses on street performance and street culture, highlighting the local performers and those that pass through. Asheville is full of professional performers who love to practice their freedom of speech on one of Asheville’s greatest stages… the sidewalk. Our American street performance community gives clear glimpse into American folklore, and helps to birth new traditions. Over the last few years I have interviewed hundreds of performers, and the importance of preserving this part of American history has become very apparent.
If you are in Asheville and you happen to see a busker you enjoy, feel free to shoot me an email about it at email@example.com. I would love to hear about your experiences. I hope you catch the show.
